Two years ago when my daughter was born, simple tasks started to become major challenges. A baby bouncer I received as a shower gift became my new best friend. As long as my baby was in a playful mood, this worked fine! As sleep overtook her, she would startle awake and cry to be held.
A co-worker told me about the Leachco Podster. She couldn’t recommend it highly enough and said it had really helped her during her son’s early months.

Things to Consider Before Buying a Baby Lounger
Comfort and Convenience
Baby loungers provide a comfortable seat for babies to rest under adult supervision. When choosing a lounger, look for an adjustable design so it can adapt to your baby’s growth and development.
Having an easily portable seat for your baby can give you time to complete routine chores or rest while the baby is comfortable.
Help with Medical Issues in Babies
Lots of babies spit up a little after being fed. That little spit is called gastroesophogeal reflux or GER. Keeping your baby’s head elevated can help control reflux and avoid excess spitting up. Keeping your baby in this position can also help with breathing problems. If your baby has reflux a lounger with a raised head position could help reduce the symptoms.
Baby Lounger Safety
If you’re like me, keeping your little one safe and sound is a top priority. The recommended usage for baby loungers is often different. Some are recommended for sleeping whilst others are only recommended for lounging whilst your baby is awake. You should check what the manufacturer recommends depending on how you intend your baby to use the lounger.
The Leachco Podster
Beginnings
In 1988, a couple named Clyde and Jamie Leach went out to dinner with their 7-month-old son, Alex.
Placing Alex in a high chair, they prepared to enjoy a meal that Jamie didn’t have to cook or clean up after. Can anyone relate? A malfunction in the high chair almost dumped Alex on the floor. Jamie had to react fast and she came up with a way to secure the chair using her purse strap so they could continue their meal together.
Later, at home, Jamie began experimenting. With some dental floss, tape and a hand towel, she designed a safety wrap to use for her baby. Other parents expressed interest and Jamie made the wrap for them.
From that beginning, Jamie and Clyde began to design and make other products to help with the care of infants and small children. And so the Leachco company was born.
The Podster is a sling-style baby lounger from Leachco and has been designed to provide a warm and cozy space for your baby to relax.
Features and Benefits
Expandable
One of the best features of the Podster is the way it ‘grows’ with your baby. The sling-type center section that expands to accommodate your baby as he/she develops, while the adjustable tabs form a custom fit.
Your baby is surrounded by solidly contoured sides to keep him/her from slipping around and feeling insecure.
Heads Up Design
The design of the Podster keeps your baby’s head elevated, which alleviates symptoms of reflux and/or breathing difficulties. You don’t need to worry about putting your baby in the Podster shortly after feeding and burping, as the elevated position can help make spitting up less likely.
Removable Cover
The Podster has an easily removable washable cover. The washing instruction state that it should be laundered in warm water on gentle cycle, non-chlorine bleach if needed.
For drying, you should use the lowest heat cycle and make sure you remove the cover immediately at the end of the cycle.
Leachco recommends that you should only clean the inner padding of the Podster by spot cleaning with soapy water.
Is the Podster Safe for Baby Sleeping?
Leachco states that you should not allow your baby to sleep in the Podster and that constant adult supervision is required. You should also make sure that your baby is always on thier back and not on thier front or side.
The Leachco shouldn’t be placed in a crib, on a bed, table, playpen counter or any elevated surface. Finally, Leachco state that you carry your baby around whilst they are lounging in the Podster.
Whilst recommending that your baby shouldn’t use the Podster face down might seem like common sense, not allowing your baby to sleep in the Podster could be a challenge. I have read a large number of reviews describing how well thier children sleep in the Podster.
Clearly, Leachco has made these recommendations for a reason and you should be aware of them depending on how you intend to use the Podster.
Basic Specifications
- Weight – 2.95 pounds
- Dimensions – 25.5 x 23 x 8 inches
- Recommendations for Maximum Weight: 16 pounds
